AC-Compressor Trucks R134a
Conditions for warranty and return of used parts for air conditioning compressors
Any warranty check can only take place if proof of professional installation can be provided! For this, the following working steps must always be carried out:
- Make sure that all impurities and foreign particles have been removed from the refrigerant circuit. To do this, the system has to be flushed before the new compressor is installed. Depending on the degree of soiling, refrigerant R134a or a special flushing solution such as the one in the Behr Hella Service range are suitable. Compressors, receiver driers (accumulators) and expansion valves and orifice tubes cannot be flushed. Since in the case of a compressor defect soiling of the system (abrasion chips) must always be assumed or at least cannot be excluded, it is absolutely vital that the system is flushed before this component is replaced. Make sure that no residual flushing solution remains in the system dry the refrigerant circuit with nitrogen if necessary.
- Replace the receiver dreir or accumulator and the expansion valve or orifice tube.
- Since one and the same compressor could possibly be used for different vehicles or systems, it is essential to check and/or correct the oil filling level and viscosity according to the manufacturer’s instructions before installing the compressor. To do this, drain and collect all the oil. Then fill the compressor with the whole amount of oil (system oil quantity) prescribed by the vehicle manufacturer. To make sure the oil is evenly distributed, the compressor has to be turned 10 times by hand before installation. After the compressor has been installed and the refrigerant cycle has been refilled, the engine should be started and the compressor operated for a few minutes with the engine at idling speed.
- Fill the refrigerant circuit with the prescribed amount of refrigerant once it has been evacuated according to specifications. Only R134a may be used as a refrigerant for the compressor.
- When mounting the drive belt make sure that this is aligned correctly.*
*Some compressors have been designed for so-called “multi-purpose applications”. This means they can be installed in various different vehicles. Apart from the number of grooves on the magnetic clutch, the parts correspond 100% to the “used part”. The system must be flushed before the new compressor is installed.
Return conditions for compressors cores
Refund of the deposit fee on return of the old part removed from the vehicle will be made only if the following general criteria and the additional special criteria listed further below for each type of old part are fulfilled.
- The old part must be clearly identifiable via an OE number or other number.
- The old part must be included in the current old parts acceptance list.
- The old part must be returned on a 1:1 basis, i.e. the old returned part must correspond to the product supplied! The old part must be returned in the original packaging.
- The old part must be complete, without visible damage, and able to be remanufactured.
The following special reasons for rejection apply to air conditioning compressors:
- Connection openings not closed. Connecting openings must be closed using caps or plates immediately after removal from the vehicle, in order to prevent corrosion in the compressor.
- Missing clutch assembly, if our unit was supplied with a clutch assembly.
- Unit has been dismantled, or has been assembled from old.
- Clutch assembly is damaged.
- Wiring harness and/or electrical connections not intact.
